Claude

Claude is Anthropic's chat assistant. Writers use it to edit long documents, tighten drafts, rewrite text for a specific audience and work through structure on reports, essays and proposals. It can read uploaded files such as PDFs and documents, which makes it useful for summarizing source material before you write.

Claude is available on the web, on desktop and on mobile, and Anthropic offers its models to developers through an API. It handles many languages besides English.

As with any assistant, check facts it adds and quotes it attributes, because it can get them wrong. You get better results when you give it a sample of the voice you want, tell it who will read the text, and ask it to point out what it changed rather than handing back a full rewrite.
