About Hemingway Editor

Hemingway Editor colors your text by problem: yellow and red for long and very hard sentences, and other colors for adverbs, passive voice and phrases with simpler alternatives. It shows a readability grade for the whole piece, so you can see how much work a draft needs before you start.
The web editor is free to use for checking text. Paid versions add a desktop app and AI suggestions that rewrite flagged sentences for you.
It is a plain-language tool, so it suits web copy, reports, instructions and anything a busy reader skims. It does not check every grammar rule the way a full grammar checker does, and a low grade is not always the goal: some readers expect technical terms and longer sentences. Use it to find the worst sentences, then decide which ones to fix.
